Thorpe Larches Village

Thorpe Larches is a village that is predominantly located within the Borough of Sedgefield in the ceremonial county of County Durham. Interestingly, a minor part of Thorpe Larches is located within Stockton Borough Council.

The predomiant feature in Thorpe Larches – at least to the casual visitor – is the beautiful countryside that is transected by the A177 road that busily carries vehicles rapidly and noisily North to Durham and South to Stockton.

Thorpe is of Danish extraction and refers to a farm, whilst Larches refers to trees. Therefore Thorpe Larches can be roughly translated as meaning a wooded farmland village.
